J and A enjoyed a face time chat with G and T today- hi again guys!!
We decided to see how the other half live, and hopped on the bus to Monaco. Naturally it was only as the helicopter pad was under renovation that we had to settle for commoners transport.
It worked out ok as the bus wound around the coast and we got a great view of all the bays, including one with two HUGE cruise liners at anchor. Some of the towns looked like postcards they were so perfectly pretty.
Lunch was the first order of the day so we headed for the rooftop restaurant at the Fairmont for a yummy lunch and people watch. Baz was busy picking up fashion tips from the eurotrash there was a few fabbo outfits.
Walking out the front door we found we were on a famous part of the F1 course... Here's a pic for you Andy.
We headed off for a walk through the streets, the buildings are all beautifully ornate and there are lovely gardens and views over the harbour.
Next stop was the casino, but just for a quick look at the main room as one of us had to wait with the kids outside. Baz didn't get to put it all on black...
Here's the entry hall- no cameras allowed but Baz snuck a pic on his phone!
After I had my look I came out to find the kids had picked us up a car for the ride home.
Monte Carlo was lousy with fancy schmancy cars- we spotted a couple of Ferraris, Bentleys and Aston Martins to name a few. Down by the harbour we spotted a huge bloke being chauffeured off into a convertible Bentley after disembarking his mega yacht. Oh la la! A sheik perhaps?
They were setting up for the Monaco boat show so there was lots of Marquees going up around the port, and boats being polished up ready for display. It starts next week so we'll miss it which is a shame it would have been good to get a look inside some of the yachts.
It was a warm day today so we rode the bus back home, and hit the beach at Nice for a late arvo paddle. The beach is so rocky it's tricky getting in the water and funny watching everyone hobble over the rocks trying not to slip over. The kids bought some beach shoes yesterday so they happily played and built rock forts instead of sand castles on the waters edge. I couldn't believe how much gravel hit the bathroom floor from their togs when we got home to shower off. Ouch! Baz smacked Amy's bum just to say he's really 'hit rock bottom' he he.
