The Happiest Place In The World!

Today saw us off to Disneyland just outside Paris. The kids had a fantastic day and have given it top marks for holiday fun so far.

We started our adventure on the train. Once we bypassed a scammer begging us to buy some 21€ train passes from him he claimed to have paid 43€ for, it was fairly simple and we arrived at the park gates some 40 minutes after.

The suburbs and then the park was shrouded in a cool fog, which made the whole scene a little surreal as all the disney glitter and glam was subdued. It cleared up after an hour or so, and we got some nice photo's later in the day of the character parade and the castle.

We all enjoyed boat rides through 'Small World', Pirates of the Caribbean and a paddle steamer through the 'wild west'. The kids had a bit of fun trying on some dreadies mon....

A stop for lunch, and we had an odd experience with the young couple sharing our table. I ducked off to get some serviettes and returned to find her weeping noisily, and though the conversation was all in French it would appear she had been dumped at a cafe table in Disney. Perhaps not the happiest place in the world today?! Amy asked us if she might have been sad because she couldn't get on the ride she wanted, but after much angry sobbing and back and forth (in French) and a few chips tossed around it was clear it was boyfriend woes. Baz reassured Amy that any bloke who would break up with his girlfriend at Disney over a burger was doing her a favour and we wandered on our way.

The next ride was Autotopia where the kids each drove us around the track! They were both so proud of themselves, it was a real buzz to see.

On my request we headed for the Star Wars ride, the premise being boarding a shuttle ride through the galaxy. While lining up we saw C3PO and R2D2 along with a droid workshop, and then rode a flight simulator. My favorite for the day, and actually one of theirs too- "Que la force soit avec vous"

The adjacent park Walt Disney World was next up, and as the day had gotten clear and quite warm by then we all decided a rest in the shade would be best rather than join any long queues for rides. Neither kids were all that keen on roller coasters thank goodness- Some of the queues were up to 90 minutes by then.

Here's Amy/Minnie waiting for a fairy floss to top up her reserves ha ha.

The Lightening McQueen themed car stunt show and a spot of souvenir hunting finished us off so it was back on the train and home around 7pm. The sunsets here are late so it's not getting dark until well after 8- mind you they are probably civilized and enjoy summer daylight savings.

All in all a fun day, and it was really worth going to enjoy the bright shiny smiles on the kids faces. For them it really was the happiest place after all!

Tomorrow we have no plans, other than a sleep in and stop at the Boulangerie before brekky.... Bon Soir
